At the beginning of 2020, 500 Startups’ LatAm team had everything planned for the entire year: our goals, deadlines, and investments we wished to make in our region. We had mapped out everything to the last detail. Come March, it became obvious to us and everyone else around the world that COVID-19 was going to make any plan challenging to achieve.

But from our homes in Mexico City, the whole LatAm team decided to stay on track with our plans and work as hard as possible to keep our pace and the start date of our accelerator program.

For five weeks starting at the end of March, we launched Batch 12 applications for Spanish-speaking Latin America. The results amazed us: nearly 15% more companies applied, compared to Batch 11, or 1,957 companies. This was Latin American entrepreneurship at its best.

The pandemic has challenged companies and whole industries, so it is truly encouraging to see thousands of entrepreneurs–real hustlers–rise up to the challenge. This is exactly what drives us to do what we do.

Ten companies from Mexico, Argentina and Chile join us this month for our 16-week program, this time 100% remote. We will offer them the best of our mentor network, and most importantly we will focus on weekly metrics to make sure we are helping our companies to grow their business.

Please welcome to the 500Strong family our Batch 12 in LatAm.
