• 500-backed foodtech startup Prefer has proven that we don’t need coffee beans to enjoy a cuppa coffee.
• Using the same proprietary precision fermentation technology that brought us bean-free coffee, they’re now thinking along the lines of chocolate without cacao, nut-free hazelnut, pod-free vanilla, and orange-free citrus.
• The driving forces behind Prefer are Co-founders DJ Tan (CTO) and Jake Berber (CEO), who set out to tackle the climate crisis head-on with sustainable, cost-saving alternatives.
