Eight startups from around the world will present on Thursday, May 18 as part of 500 Global’s Spring Alumni Showcase. The companies, which are all part of 500 Global’s portfolio and based outside of the US, range from Seed to Series A stages.

One of the participating founders, Yoav Oren, said he’s particularly excited to share the story behind his company (an augmented reality app called Zoog) with the broader 500 community.

"I am very much looking forward to seeing how our presentation can help unblock opportunities for us.

“Being an Israeli startup that is focused on the US market, I am very much looking forward to seeing how our presentation can help unblock opportunities for us,” Oren told us.

Vijay Rajendran, who leads portfolio value at 500 Global, said his team hosted its first alumni showcase last summer in response to the high volume of requests from founders looking to connect with the 500 network. The event is one of many ways 500 Global supports its portfolio companies beyond initial investment, he said.

“It’s not that you finish a 500 accelerator, or get investment from us, and we say: ‘Okay, great. Don’t call us, we’ll call you,’” Rajendran said. “We intend for founders to experience many different touchpoints with us that add value.”

Beyond the company presentations, the Alumni Showcase will also include a roundtable discussion dubbed, “Innovation Lives Everywhere: How Investors Win by Thinking Globally.” The talk will feature 500 Global’s partners Santiago Zavala from LATAM, Amal Dokhan from MENA, and Vishal Harnal from Southeast Asia.

The Spring Alumni Showcase is open only to accredited investors, who can RSVP for the virtual event here
