1) Top five mistakes in setting an Innovation Strategy, includes: not having a clear innovation goal, not having a clear plan to achieve the desired goal, not defining and sharing this strategy, not creating a portfolio of innovation activities, and setting unrealistic expectations.  

2) Innovation Strategy is ultimately about achieving results. Each corporation is recommended to have innovation goals (e.g. growth, profit, transformation, insight, and or a combination) and comprehensive strategies. A clear plan and effective internal and external communication can lead to necessary buy-in and informed decision making. Partnering with startups can increase innovation activities.

3) Create innovation portfolios. The most effective corporations utilize every tool in the innovation toolkit (e.g. investment, acquisition, collaboration, etc.) and monitor their activities. An innovation portfolio is one way to encourage collaboration and to gain unique understandings of the business reality.

4) Significant results take years. Executive sponsorship and commitment is key given competing priorities at corporations. Short-term wins build momentum along with incremental breakthroughs. A strong process and innovation portfolio can lead to quantifiable and visible results in a sustainable fashion. 

5) Covid-19 presents new opportunities. Innovation Strategies will be at the forefront of every corporation. It is key to make smart choices and tradeoffs, ask important questions, and allow for data-driven decisions to know where you are today and where you want to be tomorrow, in a post-Covid-19 world.

2) イノベーション戦略は、結果を達成することが目的。各企業は、イノベーションの目標(例えば、成長、利益、変革、識見、またはその組み合わせ)と包括的な戦略を持つことが推奨されます。明確な計画と効果的な内部および外部のコミュニケーションは、必要な賛同とデータに基づく意思決定につながる可能性があります。スタートアップと提携することで、イノベーション活動を増やすことができます。

3) イノベーションポートフォリオを作成すること。最も効果的な企業は、イノベーションツールキットのすべてのツール(投資、買収、協業など)を利用し、その効果を計っています。イノベーションポートフォリオは、コラボレーションを促進し、ビジネスの現実について独自の理解を得る1つの方法です。

4) 結果を出すには数年かかります。企業における競合する優先事項を考えると、経営陣の支援とコミットメントが鍵となります。短期的な成果は、漸増する進展とともに、賛同を促します。しっかりとしたプロセスとイノベーションポートフォリオは、定量化可能で目に見える結果を持続可能な形でもたらします。

5) Covid-19がもたらす新しい機会。イノベーション戦略は、すべての企業の最優先事項になります。賢い選択とトレードオフを行い、重要な質問をし、データ主導の意思決定をすることでCovid-19後の世界で活躍できます。
