Startup innovation is alive and well and will soon be on full display in Alberta, Canada. 

The largest research and innovation agency in Alberta, Alberta Innovates, and multi-stage venture capital firm, 500 Global, will unveil 13 startup companies on Tuesday, April 18 during a demo day in Edmonton, Canada. The event is the culmination of a 12 week program by Alberta Accelerator by 500 that offers mentorship and coaching to founders for building successful startups. Presenting companies will cover a wide-range of sectors, including fintech, healthcare, and edtech. 

The accelerator is part of the Alberta Scaleup and Growth Accelerator Program, led by Alberta Innovates. The consortium also includes Alberta Technology and Innovation, Edmonton Unlimited, and Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan). Now in its third rendition, the accelerator has graduated 28 Canadian startups, along with 13 other companies from around the world.

  • Almexoft is a no-code workflow automation platform for enterprises that struggle with their digital transformation efforts.
  • Aro Robotic Systems helps manufacturing SMEs reduce the costs of their repetitive manual tasks by over 50% by automating them through our multi-tasking robots.
  • Glorri helps enterprises automate time-sucking tasks in recruitment so that they can focus on hiring great employees with the power of data analytics and automated workflows.
  • Greymate Care helps Africans in the diaspora remit money securely and provides trusted home health care for their parents back home.
  • Overseas Connection’s product Scoutz App is a mobile app that connects athletes and coaches to help them gain access to paid opportunities with sports teams worldwide.
  • Prodigee is a platform providing an immersive learning experience for web development and data science learners to get certified and hired.
  • SPI Utilities Solutions helps power companies eliminate outages, caused by dirty and contaminated equipment, through their use of our proprietary dry-ice cleaning technology.
  • StorsApp’s Storspay is a marketplace that helps small businesses access working capital to grow using crypto to minimize transaction costs.
  • TagMango is a SaaS platform that helps the world’s top influencer creators share their educational content and monetize their audience to make more money.
  • XReadyLab educators increase students’ learning outcomes by creating engaging lessons using virtual STEM simulations.

In addition, Christine Tsai, 500 Global’s CEO and founding partner, will give opening remarks and Hanif Joshaghani, CEO of the Calgary-based customer engagement platform Symend, will be the event’s keynote speaker.
